Individualizing exercises for your baby

Exercises should be modified to suit the ability of your infant. If his is side lying and is really upset after a minute, just stop and try for a minute and a half tomorrow. Gradual increase is what you are aiming for. Don’t try the exercises too early – if baby was born ‘early’, his nerves might not yet have grown sufficiently to the muscles involved, so stick with the ones he can do, and try again in a week’s time. If baby has ‘reduced upper body strength’, just do the prone/side lying until he is 40 weeks corrected age.

All babies are individuals – judge what you think he can do and then try for another 10 seconds.
